Beautiful Vivian Clancy was born of Irish immigrant parents; the working poor. Vivian learned at an early age that you did not mix with those not of your own kind. Bigotry was deep rooted in those days. She also learned that even those of your own kind would hurt you if given the right opportunity. One day while working at Flannery's Pub, Vivian met a handsome Irish stranger. He was kind and generous and very charming. Little did she know just how much this man would change her life...forever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read!!

I bought this book and had it read within a few days. I loved the story and it was so well written. There were times I felt like I was there actually watching the story unfold. I also love the fact that the main female isn't anyone to mess with me instead of being made out to be so reliant upon a man. When I would put the book down I couldn't wait to pick it back up to see what was going on next. It definitely kept you guessing, not predictable at all. I can honestly say that I LOVED this book and would recommend it highly. I can't wait for the next book from this wonderful author.

Deadly Shamrocks paints a picture of what it was like to live in Hell's Kitchen during a time when Irish immigrants were struggling to survive. JB Reed does a great job of telling the story of a young woman working in a local Irish pub. The young woman in the story learns, in the long run, who she can and cannot trust. The book is written in a language that will give you a full flavor of the Irish dialect throughout. It is a quick read because it has ongoing action throughout.

5.0 out of 5 starsAn Enjoyable Story

By Henry Kauffman Jr. on August 26, 2013Format: Paperback

Deadly Shamrocks is an intriguing tale of crime, passion, and revenge. JB Reed's fertile mind combines family ties, bloodlust, and deceit to weave a story that keeps the reader spellbound as she connects one event after another on the streets of New York and in the mountains of West Virginia.

This is an enjoyable read, and a great effort for an author's first publication. JB Reed shows promise as a great storyteller.

If you want to learn about a side of contemporary Irish life in the United States that you might have been unaware of, be sure to read the next book in J.B. Reed's "Deadly Shamrock" series, subtitled, "It's all relative, Rose's Story." Rose's story is a very exciting, often surprising tale of revenge, family loyalties, murder, and kidnapping. Some of the twists are truly jaw dropping. If surprise, suspense, and a touch of gore are your passions, you'll love Rose's story.

When I received this book I had it read in a couple of days. The writing is wonderful and between the writing and the characters it really draws you in. I found myself feeling like I was in the book with the characters living the story along side them. The characters are so real and believable that you enjoy reading every word of it. I loved that I didn't expect what happened and why it happened to happen. I don't want to go into details because I don't want to ruin it for anyone. This book was every bit as good as the first one. I highly recommend this book and the first one, to anyone that enjoys reading and loves being transported to a place that only a good book can take you.

Great follow-up!

This is an excellent follow-up to JB Reed's first book "Deadly Shamrocks". Rose's Story is intriguing and fun to read.

The storyline is solid and well thought out. It's the kind of book you don't want to put down. As such, it was a quick read, and left me wanting more.

Deadly Shamrocks III - Blood Ties is the third installment in the Deadly Shamrock series. Rose O’Bannon and Aaron O’Brien open their private investigation firm, aptly titled Shamrock Investigations. One afternoon while Aaron is out of the office and Rose is reviewing a case that is tedious at best, a mysterious man enters the office claiming he was a friend of her mother. Rose was apprehensive about meeting this man as others had often referred to themselves as a friend of mother when they were anything but a friend. Rose is soon to learn this man knows a dark secret about her family tree. The secret was something that Rose’s mother failed to tell her when confessing the sins upon her deathbed. Would this secret destroy the life Rose and Aaron had built for themselves? Would it totally annihilate the person Rose had thought herself to be?

She has done it again. What a great story. It is very well written and captures your attention from the beginning. You won't want to put this one down until you are finished reading and then you can't believe it's ended and you want more. Her writing draws you into the book and makes you feel as though you are actually in the book with the people the story line is about. I hope there are a lot more books coming from this author.

The storyline is a good one, and the book moves at a pace that keeps the reader wanting more. The short chapters entice you to read "just one more" before putting the book down. I read it only at bedtime and finished it in three days.

The story rocks - especially if you read the first two books in the series.

Cari McCoy is a best selling author residing in New York City. Growing up in a small town, she could hardly wait until graduation from high school so she could shake the dust of the grimy little town from her feet and begin a new and exciting life as a writer. She had chosen to go to New York not only for the cultural advantages, but also because New York is a city where you can attain a sense of anonymity. In this little town in central Ohio, where she had lived her entire life, everyone knows their neighbor’s business and most do not hesitate to make it the topic of conversation at social gatherings if it is juicy enough.

Cari had not returned home since she had left 17 years ago, not even for her father’s funeral. She now finds herself returning for the funeral of her mother. Staying in the family home, Cari soon begins having odd dreams. A music box she had given to her mother years ago begins playing for no apparent reason. It seems something is leading her to recall things that had happened in her past. Things she cannot remember. She is about to learn that some secrets can be kept, even in this small town and Cari is about to experience a dark reminiscence.

I enjoyed the book but wish it were longer. I think I was expecting it to be more like the Deadly Shamrock series.

Are you self-published, (which is becoming more and more the norm) or are you published through a traditional publishing house?  Eiither way, now comes the time when you need to start thinking about getting your book noticed. If you are a new author, a relative unknown, this may be a more difficult task than you think.  Most big, chain bookstores do not want to take a chance on new authors.  I cannot say that I blame them. There is no guarantee that your book will sell.  No one knows who you are….yet.  You may have written the Great American novel but unless you can convince someone to read it, the chances of becoming the author you were born to be turns out to be slim to none.   This book will guide you through the many ways of promoting and marting your book in a way that you will receive the recognization you deserve as an author.
